The Centro di Studi Africani in Sardegna – CSAS «has as a primary purpose the dissemination of African history and culture». Several initiatives have already been designed and carried out in special conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Annually one volume is published on topics such as politics, economics, religion, human rights, media, conflict, sport, languages — using different languages like Italian, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
What meaning has been given to the concept of “minority”? The African continent presents and includes many minorities, often marginalized groups, refugee communities who move from one country to another. The objective of CSAS is, in fact, not to follow the classic and most popular field of the study of isolated and excluded minorities from the political and social life. Widening, therefore, the perspective will be analyzed those groups or those communities of particular interest, in the countries studied by each researcher.
The hope is that the results of this initiative will be widely disseminated, and will also represent a significant tool for the cooperation of CSAS with Africans in Sardinia. Become aware and share their history it is certainly a good start.
