Nemi is famous as the town of strawberries and flowers, which are celebrated in the yearly fair towards the end of May and the beginning of June. This little guide book is dedicated to those who would like, if only briefly, to immerse themselves in the colourful and characteristic atmosphere of the little squares and alleys of the old town and find out more than the basic information offered on the web. The three itineraries cover many lesser known aspects of the place and its people. Our intention, through the anecdotes selected from the oral tradition still alive among the older generation, has been to recount episodes of everyday life that gradually became unique characteristics of the community of the past. This aspect, along with local cultural traditions and practices based on ancient wisdom, should not be forgotten, because it is unique. Every town has its particular atmosphere, composed of many nuances and pregnant silences, exclusive to the place and readily recognized by anyone who takes the trouble to find it. The illustrations also emphasize this more hidden aspect, aiming to elicit a response on the part of the visitor, conjuring up hidden memories and emotions that are often indefinable.
