This work aims at analyzing the personal income distribution and its evolution over the last twenty years in Italy in order to ascertain whether there has been an increase of inequalities among workers’ wages. The results of the work, obtained out of a specific longitudinal sample of workers, seem quite clear in showing a real impoverishment of some classes of workers, in particular of those with some specific characteristics referring to professional skill and age. Moreover, it is shown that the workers with precarious employment contracts are more penalized than others, as well as those individuals, younger or not, that have been engaged with flexible employment contracts since 1997 when the so called Treu’s bill started to be effective.
