In this book we study the critical properties of the classical spin–1 Ising model using both analytical and numerical approaches. We applymean–field, series expansions and Metropolis Monte Carlo technique to determine the critical temperature and the critical exponents and to investigate the corresponding phase diagrams. In particular, within this analysis, we discuss the critical behavior of one–, two– and three–dimensionalsystems modeled by the nearest–neighbor and long range spin–1 Ising model for different types of exchange interactions in the Hamiltonianand compare its critical characteristics with some other classical models.
