The Dystopian Architecture of Albert Speer

Albert Speer was born in 1905, in Mannheim, Deutschland. He was the major architect during theNational Socialist regime. The present work aim to describe the work of Speer, especially thedystopian project of “Berlin-Deutschland”planned by Speer himself with Adolf Hitler. The peculiararchitectural theories of Speer (Theory of Ruin Value) are also examined into a historical, cultural andpsychological perspective. The relationship between specific city planning theories and social ideas inthe nazi’s weltanschaung is explored, avoiding any ethical evaluation in order to historically clarify therole of many authors like Riehl, Tessenow, Fritsch in the creation of the National Socialist cityplanning in late 30’s of 20th century.
