The topics covered by the book form the algebraic background of any university level mathematical instruction: arithmetic in integral domains, basics of module theory, finitely generated modules over a principal ideal domain with applications, field extensions and Galois theory with applications in algebraic equations and ruler and compass constructions. These are classic topics that form the heart of modern Algebra and open the road toward advanced areas, such as Algebraic Number Theory, Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry. The text is aimed at Mathematics, Computer Science or technical universities students with a background of standard Algebra courses, as well as at readers with an interest in Algebra.
