SINTESI
This volume presents the results from an investigation into the metaphorical expressions used to conceptualize Middle East peace/the peace process, comparing political speeches given by George W. Bush, Ariel Sharon and Mahmoud Abbas. A combination of the main theories and metaphor identification procedures focusing both on linguistic and conceptual metaphor is used to analyze the data. The main objectives of this book are to contribute to a mapping of the metaphors used in peace discourse and to give a critical analysis of these metaphors in order to say something about how politicians who are apparently promoting peace view it.
