The book Integrare europeană/ identitate naţională; plurilingvism/ multiculturalitate – limba şi cultura română: evaluări, perspective [European Integration/ National Identity; Plurilingualism/ Multiculturality – Romanian Language and Culture: Evaluation, Perspectives] gathers the papers delivered by Romanian and foreign scholars at the symposium of the same name that took place in Iasi, Romania, on 25–26 September 2013, being organized by the “A. Philippide” Institute of Romanian Philology and by the “A. Philippide” Cultural Association. The articles reflect the fields of research in philology both in Romania and in other countries creating a synthesis between tradition and innovation in fundamental specific directions like linguistics, literary history, ethnology. The “A. Philippide” Institute of Romanian Philology – the Iasi Branch of the Romanian Academy, was founded in 1927 and consists of five departments: Lexicology-lexicography, Dialectology and sociolinguistics, Toponimy, Literary history, Ethnology and folklore. Up to now the researchers of the institute have worked, together with colleagues from similar Romanian institutes or as unique authors, at fundamental projects for the Romanian language and culture.
