Astronomical X–Ray Polarimetry

We briefly reported on a story of X–ray polarimetry, updated at 2014, in the HERTAG group that dates back more than 25 years now. Many more people were involved in this project that were not cited for reasons of space. Unfortunately at the time of this writing a completely approved mission is not available yet. In a sense, however, what looks like a story of non–success is indeed a story of stubborn scientists that keep-on trying to open a new windowin the X–ray astronomy and in astrophysics in general. We hope that, when you will read this book, this history will be completed by exciting results due to astrophysical observations with this “almost” new technique.
