SINTESI
Since restrained shrinkage has been recognized as a major concern for concrete structures and infrastructures, a considerable effort has been produced by a number of scientists in understanding the reasons for this phenomenon and, at the same time, try to reduce its effects. This thesis deals with the phenomenon of restrained shrinkage in normal and fiber reinforced concrete through an in-depth study of the literature, the execution of experimental tests and numerical simulations. The results of this thesis are the development of numerical and analytical models for the understanding of this phenomenon and a further contribution to the development of test methods for the evaluation of the behavior of cementitious materials under restrained shrinkage conditions.
