SINTESI
This book addresses recent developments in the numerical integration of balance laws, which can be defined as hyperbolic systems of equations with a source term. These equations arise in the modeling of several phenomena, spanning from physics to biology, from chemistry to mathematical finance. Source terms added to conservation laws may arise due to geometric effects, as occurs for instance in nozzle flow. Or they can be due to the presence of an external field, as is the case of gravity in shallow water.
