La riflessione sulla centralità delle lingue è considerata l’ossessione maggiore della cultura moderna. La lingua è cultura, politica e società e dunque rappresenta uno strumento costitutivo d’identità. Da ciò deriva, come affermano molti studiosi tra la fine del Quattrocento e inizi del Cinquecento, che essa può essere considerata fedele alleata dell’Impero. Il presente elaborato, attraverso un excursus culturale che abbraccia tanto l’ambito letterario quanto quello cinematografico, evidenzia il potere della lingua e la stretta relazione con la politica.

The reflection on the centrality of languages is considered the greatest obsession of modern culture. Language is culture , politics and society and so it represents a fundamental instrument of identity. Many intellectuals, between the end of fifteenth and the early of sixteenth century, say that it can be considered a true ally of the Empire. The present study, through a cultural excursus that embraces both the literary sector and the film sector, highlights the power of language and the close relationship with politics.
