The regionalisms and dialettalism are a proof of the vitality and a sign of the relationship between the different varieties of a language. If a concrete linguistic community even has at its disposal more than one code, the relations between these varieties are much tighter and lexical resources of each of them become considerably richer, especially with regard to some varieties, such as the regional Italian. Within the vast and dynamic field of regionalism of Italian, there is also a group of phraseologisms, which, until recently, has not attracted the attention of lexicographers either of the scholars of Italian phraseology. The aim of this work is to analyse the treatment of regional phraseologisms gathered from a large group of Italian dictionaries and to document the different solutions given to this type of idiomatic expressions by lexicographers. Finally, we expose the limitations and possible lines of research in this area.
