The present work provides information on the importance of the rehabilitation of inactive industries in the municipality of the Cerro, in Havana City. The main goal is to show the result of a diploma work from the career of Architecture, which is the proposal for creative reuse of a disused industrial building in said municipality.
The former tobacco shop Pita y Hnos., a building of patrimonial value in an advanced degree of deterioration, is recovered in order to favor the positive impact on the quality of life and culture of the local population, by introducing a function related to the national sport of the Cubans: baseball.
The results offered here are some of the project proposals achieved in coordination with local organizations such as the Directorate of Culture, Physical Planning and the population so that this center benefits the exchange of young local and regional athletes, as well as contributing to the creation of sources of work and healthy entertainment.
