Aporofobia and tourist plutofilia in the historical center of Guanajuato, Mexico
The arrival of tourists to the historic center of Guanajuato has had a profound impact on the transformation of the urban image, while at the same time it has become a daily occurrence of popular problems in the perception of the inhabitants, service providers and tourism authorities and their work in different economic, social and cultural fields. The contempt for the poor tourist who does not consume boutique hotels and restaurants is contrary to the admirable welcome of tourists with economic resources. The concepts of Aporofobia (Cortina, 2017) and Plutofilia (Squella, 2018) provide a view of the rejection of the poor tourists of a sector of the population in contrast to the approval of the arrival of "rich" tourists by the suppliers of services and administrators of hotels and restaurants within the gentrified areas of the World Heritage City. These events are asymmetric urban, social, economic and local policies that involve tourists, visitors and citizens, in a distortion attributable to the agents of the production of Aporophobia and Plutofilia. Therefore, the article is involved in a vortex of Aporophobia and Plutofilia normalized in moral dilemmas by the behavior and ways of being of individuals and human groups.
