Architecture, an eminently tautological art, has seemed for years unable to become an instrument ofdialogue with all those citizens who now interpret it as an obstacle to their capacity for expression. Itis perceived in its rigidity as immutable and oppressive and the architects referred to as bad teachers, destroyers of otherwise beautiful places and landscapes.Architecture can only say about itself that it is architecture, discarding this simple truth means failingits own meaning, its need of existing. It declines the original offer of being a shelter, a man's home.'Teaching architecture' and ‘making architecture', brought together in a synchronous practice, arecornerstones of the theory and practice of the discipline, confirming itself as the only actions ofresistance that can still be pursued.
