Aspectualisation is a relevant yet problematic notion for generative semiotics. Its boundaries and its relationships with aspectuality, narrativity, and enunciation have been discussed but rarely verified through textual analysis. In this essay, aspectualisation is presented as a composite and cross–level phenomenon, through the analysis of a specific case study: the diffusion of a semiotic model of “quantifiable exponentialgrowth”, well attested in Japanese comics, modern videogames,Websiteapplications, and technological discourses. This model is becomingmore and more common in the contemporary representation of growth,progress, and mastery.
