The emotional response to architecture is evoked by the self-conscious perception of space and style mediated by the unconscious. Literature reviews these emotional states as emerging from bodily feelings and embodiment. Here, I draw a trajectory from the development of a sense of space in the primeval hut to a contemporary approach to architectonic space through cognitive neuroscience and Virtual Reality technology.
