Irene M. Pepperberg, SB (MIT), MA (Harvard), PhD (Harvard), is a ResearchAssociate and Lecturer at Harvard, where she studies the cognitive andcommunicative abilities of Grey parrots, including developmental issues.She has published over 100 scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals andas book chapters, and is the author of The Alex Studies and Alex & Me. Shehas been a visiting Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, tenuredAssociate Professor at the University of Arizona, visiting AssociateProfessor at the MIT Media Lab, and adjunct Associate Profess or atBrandeis University; she will be a senior lecturer at MIT in 2018 in animalcognition She received John Simon Guggenheim, Selby, and RadcliffeFellowships, is a Fellow of AAAS, APA, APS, Animal Behavior Society,American Ornithologists’ Union, and Midwest and Eastern PsychologicalAssociations. She serves on the editorial board of several journals, was anassociate editor of the Journal of Comparative Psychology, a board memberof the Eastern Psychological Association and has recently been elected a> member-at-large for Division 3 of APA.>
