Nel 1801 l’organaro mantovano Luigi Montesanti costruisce un organo per la chiesa parrocchiale di Villarotta. Riutilizzando alcune parti di quel pregevole strumento, che ’usura del tempo ha portato a un lento degrado, nel 1896 la ditta «Tonelli e Marchesini» di Mantova edifica l’organo il cui suono ancora oggi riecheggia nelle navate della chiesa.
Il libro ripercorre le vicende organarie villarottesi, le cui radici risultano documentate fino al 1664, descrive un frammento di storia locale che trasmette informazioni e documenti raccolti perlustrando archivi, biblioteche, lapidi, cassetti privati e perfino «graffiti»: le parole che – malcostume italico – sono state scarabocchiate accanto all’organo da tiramantici, cantanti o spettatori.


In 1801, the organ builder Luigi Montesanti from Mantova made an organ for the parish church of Villarotta.
In 1896, by reemploying some parts of this fine instrument, that was in bad conditions, the firm «Tonelli e Marchesini» from Mantova made the organ that is still present today.
The publication contains the history of the various organs that have been erected in this church, with the first document dating from 1664.
This is a fragment of local history as well, with information taken from archives, public libraries, gravestones, private drawers and even graffiti: the words that (Italian misbehavior) have been scribbled around the organ by singers, spectators and bellow operators.
