The present article analyzes the translation into Catalan and French of some paremia in Don Quixote, with a comparative perspective. The restricted corpus is based on the paremia in the semantic field of origins, whether these are overt, covert or hidden. The French translations are by C. Oudin and C. Rosset (the first translation of Don Quixote, 1614 and 1618), A. Schulman 1997), J. R. Fanlo (2008). The Catalan translations are by Tàmaro (1882, only the first part of Don Quixote is kept) and Bulbena (1891, newly edited in 2005).
