The selected papers and talks reproduced in this volume in memory of Professor Ugo Ascoli–Bartoli recall the years of the pioneering research activity in the field of plasma physics and its most important application, the controlled thermonuclear fusion. The Chapters in this volume are not ordered exactly according to the chronology but they give a fairly complete accounting of the conference lectures and the scientific achievements of Ugo Ascoli Bartoli.
