Properties of nuclei are routinely investigated by means of nuclear reactions and nuclear scattering. Any theory of nuclear reactions should set up a framework where the numerous phenomena exhibited by nuclear reactions can be adequately described. The main tool employed in this series of papers is the analysis of the analyticity properties of the scattering amplitude in the complex angular momentum plane. Resonances, nuclear glory, surface waves and echoes of the resonances can be effectively represented in terms of polar singularities of the S-matrix in the CAM plane. In particular, the analysis of trajectories of CAM-poles as a function of the energy shows the organization of resonances in families which reflect the symmetries of the underlying nuclear interaction. This methodology culminated in the unified description of nuclear resonances and echoes appearing in many non-relativistic scattering processes by means of causal and acausal poles in the complex space of the complexified momentum and angular momentum.
