SINTESI
This book is a high-statured academic work dedicated to the study of ancient oriental philosophy of the Far East centred around China. Lao-Tzu (570 BC-unknown) and Confucius (551-479 BC) were great philosophers of ancient China who lived at about the same time as Plato, Socrates and Aristotle. Unlike them though, Lao-Tzu and Confucius are comparatively not well-known in the West. Now, when China becomes the second largest economy in the world, the influencial impact of this most populous country in the world is becoming increasingly bigger. To know the people, you have to know what underlines their thinking that promote their way of doing things. The author uses ancient philosophies of the Far East to analyse social problems in a scholarly and intriguing fashion while at the same time the ancient oriental philosophies are clearly explained.
