Since Plato's Theatetus, propositional knowledge has been an enduring topic in philosophy. Even though the concept of knowledge and its analysis present such a long tradition, there is still the presence of "an extraordinary range of existing disagreements concerning conditions of knowing that should figure in an analysis of knowing" (Shope 2002). In the present book, an explication of the constitutive features of knowledge and assertions and their interplay is carried out in the light of a logical and probabilistic reconstruction of such notions in epistemology and philosophy of language. Author's analysis of knowledge and assertion is then compared with different forms of verificationist epistemology.
