SINTESI
English for Success is a coursebook designed both for High School and University learners. It focuses on the learning and use of strategies, techniques, skills and competences aiming at achieving success, not only in the academic realm, but also in life at large. Learners are involved in reinforcing activities designed to overcome some of the most widespread morpho-syntactic language problems. English for Success aims at being innovative, practical and effective. It is innovative not just because it simply differs from other texts, but mostly because it introduces and exploits clearly and openly new ways of doing activities. Capitalizing on the psychological principle that everyone prefers to speak about her/himself rather than about a poet, artist or politician, the book thus fosters both receptive and productive language skills through integrated activities. It is practical for being strictly connected with real things and situations rather than with theories, and it is effective because we expect it will produce the results that authors and learners alike mostly aim at: attaining successful results. The actual strength of English for Success relies on the fact that it offers authentic stimuli, without forcing anyone into strange, abstract, obvious activities. Learners will feel free to express their own ideas, giving personal answers most of the time.
