Engineering Meaning. Evaluation Research at a World-Class Institution is a guide to assessment in engineering education. It explains the development of the assessment program at the Albert Nerken School of Engineering, The Cooper Union, and shows you how some of our most successful assessment projects were implemented. The goal in creating this publication is to make available for the assessment public a set of examples implemented in one of the first engineering schools to develop assessment in the United States. The book presents the rationale, objectives and process for anumber of evaluation projects and constitutes a guide for assessment practitioners engaged in innovative work at their institutions. It will help you come to terms with methodological and practical questions related to assessment as they develop in practice.Educated in Madrid and New York, Gerardo del Cerro holds Ph.D.s in the social sciences from the New School for Social Research in New York and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and a MFA in Classical Piano from the Madrid Royal Conservatory. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Executive Program on Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Non-Profit Organizations. His latest book, Bilbao. Basque Pathways to Globalization, is considered to be “one of the more sophisticated studies of globalization available today" (Diane Davis, MIT), and a seminal contribution to the field of globalized urbanization. Gerardo del Cerro is Associate Professor at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City and a past Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
