This book collects some geographical studies about the transformations generated by the economic development in the "innovation" of the territorial settings. The main aim of the editor is to present, to Hutrecht university's students, a short analysis of Southern Italy's transition towards post-industrial economy emphasizing the role of the territory and to present the unfolding processes owing to the changes brought about by new productive configurations and by contemporary social resetting generated by the extreme dynamism of the labour market in Europe. The alternation of the structures that shape the space as it becomes territory designs those "new" geographies and makes those "new" local histories, whose evolutionary dynamics contemporary geography aims to analyze and interpret.
