The Albanian law of “Measures against domestic violence in the family relationship”

The phenomena of domestic violence affect negatively individuals, families, and communities. Domestic violence has no connection with age, sex, gender, ethnicity, race or religion background, economic status, education level or geography position but in most of the reported cases, women are the victims. In 1995, after a significant political and social change, domestic violence emerged as an issue of concern in Albania. The study emphasizes the causes of domestic violence in the State, its effects and consequences on the victim’s life. Its social impact is explained through data, facts and law implementation. Legal protection, institutional cooperation, and society education may contribute to the reduction of domestic violence issues.
